This historic English fabric house preserves the legacy of Geoffrey Bennison (1921-1984), one of the country’s most influential interior designers and antique dealers, known for his pattern-on-pattern schemes of theatrical proportions. The late Gilly Newberry worked with Geoffrey Bennison from 1979 and in 1985 founded the textile branch, Bennison Fabrics, specialising in hand-printed fabrics based on 18th- and 19th-century English and French textiles originally reproduced by Geoffrey Bennison.
Since then, the range has developed and grown to over 300 designs with around 2,000 different colourways. Six or seven new designs are introduced each year, and nothing is ever discontinued. The demand for Bennison’s beautiful fabrics remains unwavering and transcends generations. Each design is printed in small batches in England on linens and silks woven and dyed exclusively for the company; the collections can be seen in the London (Pimlico) and New York showrooms.
