Under the expert guidance of Lucy Bathurst, Nest Design blurs the lines between functional textiles and art through the medium of soft furnishings. It produces everything from curtains and blinds to wall hangings, four posters, headboards and cushions. Everything is designed and made by hand at Nest’s converted Mission Hall HQ in east London, allowing for a continuous conversation between both processes.
Lucy and her team have a particular love for interesting natural fabrics – vintage linens and lace, hand-dyed and hand-woven cottons and silks – and their focus is on sourcing textiles with character and soul and transforming them into unique pieces. Working with designers and architects, hospitality and private clients, they turn their hand to anything from soft-furnishing entire hotels and creating eight-metre wall hangings and curtains, to decking out gypsy caravans, Indian Palaces, the houses of Beetles and the bedrooms of Stones.
